Book reviews from the week of July 21st

Happy weekend! This week I read one ARC, two books from my TBR, and a new-to-me author just for fun. I was a week with variety that I appreciated while I have been traveling.  I left Colorado on Wednesday and have been to Pennsylvania, Maryland, and West Virginia in a few days. I will be spending the next two weeks here in West Virginia with my dad while he has surgery and my brother is taking a well-deserved break to go to Sturgis, SD. I will be caring for the cows and goats while I am here and I found out this morning that four of the goats are expected to kid while I am here.  I am hoping they don't run into any issues because my experience in that area is from the show Call the midwife and I'm not sure how helpful that would actually be. I have a few ARCs to read while I am here, but I am really hoping I get a chance to tackle some more books from the TBR. We'll see how that goes. Dad has a habit of finding projects for me. Until next week, happy reading. Cowboy and t

Book reviews from the week of July 14th

This last week I read four ARCs. They were all very different, which gave me a wonderful variety for the week. It was fabulous. You really can't go wrong with any of these. Check my reviews and see which ones you need to add to your TBR. The Body in the Back Yard (Riley Thorn #4) by Lucy Score ARC: Release Date- 7/16/2024 #Mystery #Paranormal #ARC Written in third person from an alternating dual POV, this series should be read in order for best effect. I love Riley and how her self-confidence has grown throughout the series. I love Nick. Sometimes oblivious, this book is where he really begins to understand that he sees forever with Riley. His self-revelations are funny and cute. They have wonderful chemistry and banter. There are steamy moments and I love their intimate times together. The mystery brings twists and turns and many laugh out loud moments. The elderly battalion seems a little ridiculous at times, but since I love those characters, I could look past it. I love

Book Blog Tour: Just My Luck by Lena Hendrix

Just My Luck by Lena Hendrix is Live today!!! I cannot wait for everyone to meet Abel King! Just My Luck is here! Download your copy today! https://geni.us/lenaJustMyLuck You might think it’s reckless for a single mom to enter into a marriage of convenience with her boss . . . You would be correct. To make matters worse, Abel King is a grumpy local brewer with a criminal past. He also happens to be my boss and a total stick-in-the-mud. Every time I come to work with a smile and wave, I’m lucky if I can get a grunt in response. When I accidentally-on-purpose overhear that he’s having trouble securing a business loan due to his criminal record, I hatch a plan to help the both of us. The arrangement is perfect—a business transaction and nothing more. Like having a roommate without the hassle of other people bugging you for dates. I will definitely not be falling in love with him—no matter how many times he says “my wife” and tingles dance in all the right places. Trouble is, as time goe

Book reviews from the week of July 1st

Hello! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend. I ended up out of town for a couple of days, so today I am playing catch up. Last week I read three books. One ARC, one book from my TBR, and one book (a new-to-me author) for a reading challenge. I wish I would have had more time to read, but my paying job took a whole lot of hours over the past two weeks. This week I hope to recover a little bit and do some serious reading. I hope my reviews give you some new books to add to your TBR. Happy reading! The One I Stood Beside (Plain Daisy Ranch #2)  by Piper Rayne ARC: Release Date-07/02/2024 #FriendsToLovers #MarriageOfConvenience #SmallTown #ARC Written in first person from an alternating dual POV, book two in the series can be read as a standalone and ends with a HEA. Jude and Sadie were everything I hoped they would be an more. I loved their history together. I adored how well they knew each other and how they had always supported each other in so many ways. Sadie is a gem.
