I cannot wait for everyone to meet Abel King!

You might think it’s reckless for a single mom to enter into a marriage of convenience with her boss . . .
You would be correct.
To make matters worse, Abel King is a grumpy local brewer with a criminal past. He also happens to be my boss and a total stick-in-the-mud. Every time I come to work with a smile and wave, I’m lucky if I can get a grunt in response.
When I accidentally-on-purpose overhear that he’s having trouble securing a business loan due to his criminal record, I hatch a plan to help the both of us.
The arrangement is perfect—a business transaction and nothing more. Like having a roommate without the hassle of other people bugging you for dates.
I will definitely not be falling in love with him—no matter how many times he says “my wife” and tingles dance in all the right places.
Trouble is, as time goes on, things stop feeling like business and start feeling a whole lot like pleasure . . . and really, that’s just my luck . .

My Review:

ARC: Release Date- 07/15/2024

5 STARS

#MarriageofConvenience #ExCon #GrumpySunshine #SingleMom #Workplace #SmallTown #FamilySeries #ARC

Written in first person from an alternating dual POV, this book gives Abel and Sloane their HEA. Though their love story stands alone, this series is better read in order due to underlying plot points that extend throughout the series.

Abel. *sigh* I think he just became one of my favorite “my wife” heroes of all time. He is tough, grumpy, scowly, and growly on the outside while inside he harbors the soft heart of a man who has been hurt and broken. Sloane loves to poke the bear. Working for Abel, she finds joy in being the one to rattle his cage a bit. Their banter is on point. Sloane is fierce and strong and willing to do anything to protect her kids. She is such a good mom. I adore the marriage of convenience trope and this one handles it perfectly. From the proposal forward, I was completely hooked.

I love how they move from boss/employee, to friends, to more in such a natural way. I adored Abel’s protective nature over Sloane and the kids. Speaking of the kids; I loved, loved, loved the relationship Abel formed with them. I really appreciated that Sloane sees Abel for who he truly is and not who he is made out to be. I loved the heat level between them and the meddling family that gives them an opportunity to break through the walls they have keeping them apart. There are underlying suspense plots that run through the series and readers get a little more information in this book. They are also presented with a few new twists. I am very excited to read more of this series, in part because I cannot wait for Karma to catch up with Abel’s father, Russell King. That will be a very happy day for me.

Book reviews from the week of June 7th

The weekend is almost over as I type this but this is me running behind this week. What a week it has been! I have worked a lot at the job, the hubby had surgery, and we celebrated both my 33rd wedding anniversary and Father's Day.  I read one ARC, two books from my TBR, and one new-to-me author. I have found that after I read a really good book I need to read something a little different to get over the book hangover. That happened twice this week. After I finished the Harlow James ARC, I read an escort book by Leigh James that has been on my kindle for ages. After I read Lyndsey Gallagher's newest release, I started Escort Training which I think I picked up free a while back. That led me down a rabbit hole to reading the whole series. I have decided to review that whole series together as opposed to reviewing each book individually as they are really one story on three stages. It was a fabulous variety of reads this week and now I need to get serious and get back to ARCs. ...

Book reviews for books read January 1st-10th

Happy weekend and Happy 2025! I am starting the year strong. I have read 3 ARCs, 1 full-length novel, and 3 more novellas so far this year. The 3 ARCs were all fun reads, the next book in the Boston Billionaire Bachelors series was a fun ride, and the three monster novellas were still an enjoyable escape from reality.  I am traveling unexpectedly this month after my dad was hospitalized.  I will spend the next week in West Virginia helping my brother and helping my dad get some strength back before I return home. I am hopeful that means some dedicated reading time while I am here since there is no shortage of snow. Until next week, happy reading. Book reviews for books read September 21st-30th

This review post is late due to a family emergency that happened about ten days ago now. I feel like I am finally getting my self together a little bit today and was able to put this together finally. During the last week of the month, I read one ARC, one book for book club, and three smutty novellas. Check out my reviews and add so books to your TBR today. My month in review. September turned out to be a good reading month for me. Most of the ARCs that I read that released in September, I actually read in August. That freed up some time to read from my TBR and finish two reading challenges. During the last week of the month, I finished the A to Z reading challenge. Earlier this month, I completed the B.A.N.G. Book Club reading challenge. I also took this as an opportunity to read new-to-me authors and fit in several novellas. Out of the 23 books I read and the 2 I did not finish, I read 19 new-to-me authors! That has to be a record for me. There is a place for smutty insta-love ...
