Book reviews for the week of August 28th - August 31st

Hello all!  This is a special edition, end-of-August post.  I will be traveling for the next couple of weeks on a real vacation.  But I did not want to wait that long to share my review of this fantastic romance I just finished.  Tanner and Quinn share an amazing love story full of acceptance, support, and healing.  I honestly cannot recommend it enough.  Make this your next rock star or military romance pick and i promise you will not be disappointed. Guarding Shadows (Save Me #5)  by Aly Stiles and Hazel James #Military #HealingLove #WoundedHero #Bodyguard #Rockstar #SlowBurn 5 STARS This is my first Aly Stiles book (though several have been on my TBR for quite a while) and my second Hazel James book. This can be read as a standalone and ends with a HEA. It is written in first person from an alternating dual POV. Quinn is the rock star about to take off into the stratosphere. She exudes sunlight and joy all over Tanner and his shadows. Tanner....

Book reviews from the week of August 21st

I am excited for this weekend.  I had a productive week where I read three ARCs, a book for book club, and a novella of a new-to-me author. The book club author was also new-to-me so this week I was able to read two authors I have been wanting to read  for a while. This week I will let my reviews speak for themselves, but I enjoyed every book I read.   I will be on an actual vacation for the first two weeks of September so my reviews for the next couple of weeks will be delayed.  I wish everyone happy fall and happy reading.   After We Fall (Dare with Me #6) by J.H. Croix ARC: Release Date- 08/30/2022 #SmallTown #FriendsToLovers #ForcedProximity #ARC 4 STARS Book six in the Dare with Me series can be read as a standalone and ends with a HEA.  It is written in first person from an alternating dual POV. We finally get Harley and Grant’s story.  Readers first meet Harley when she comes to visit her brother in Alaska and ends up staying....

Book reviews from the week of June 6th

This week I read two ARCs and one book from my TBR to complete a reading challenge requirement. The Perfect Catch is a swoony, slow burn sports romance and I fell head over heels for Walker.  Love Rises is a rebrand of Gabe and Anya's love story.  I adore this book which was so unappreciated with it's previous title.  I am really hoping it gets a wider audience with the rebrand. The story is emotional and steamy as Gabe and Anya find each other when they are both broken and help each other heal.  Finally, I read a new-to-me author, Jasinda Wilder.  I pulled a book from my TBR to meet a reading challenge of reading a book with at least five words in the title.  Lizzy Goes Brains Over Braun is a mature romance and I loved the banter between Lizzy and her friends. The Perfect Catch by Meghan Quinn ARC: Release date- 6/10/2021 #SportsRomance #ForbiddenRomance #WorkplaceRomance #GrumpyHero #SlowBurn #ARC 5 STARS Just this once.  Just five seco...

Debut Author Spotlight: Lena Hendrix

I recently had the opportunity to read an ARC of Lena Hendrix's debut romance.  I really loved it (see my review below).  I contacted the author so I could feature her here on my blog.  I would love to have readers get to know her and her work.  I believe there is a bright future for her in the indie romance world.  Read on to learn about Lena, "Finding You", and what I loved about her work. About Lena Hendrix: (The Official Bio) Lena Hendrix is the author of steamy, contemporary romance novels. Her love of romance started with her grandmother’s Harlequin paperbacks and now Lena’s stories are full of heart, humor, and plenty of strong Alphas with marshmallow insides-she likes her coffee hot and her heroes hotter! Lena lives in the midwest with her husband, three children, and two derpy Australian Cattle Dogs. When she’s not writing or devouring new novels, you can find her hiking, camping, fishing, and sipping a spicy margarita! (The Unofficial Bio) ...

Book reviews from the week of May 23rd

The Right Choice (Gemstone Sisters #2) by D. Lilac ARC: Release Date- 5/29/2021 #SurprisePregnancy #AgeGap #FriendsToLovers #FamilySeries #ARC 4 STARS This is P and Bear’s story.  It is written in first person from a dual POV.  It is the second book in an interconnected series, but it can be reads as a standalone.  Book one follows P’s twin sister Ruby to her HEA.  The timelines overlap to a certain degree and P’s story continues beyond Ruby’s HEA. P and Bear both have baggage and have had heartache.  I loved reading about their pasts and how they moved forward to where they are today.  I really enjoyed the friendship Bear and P form and that it takes them both time to get to know each other and decide to become more.  I loved how patient Bear was with P. There is plenty of heat between the two characters and I loved the physical intensity between them.  There were moments in this story when I really wanted to smack Bear upside the head....

Book reviews from the week of April 18th

I read three ARCs this week and things slowed down enough that I was able to read a couple of books off by TBR as well.  I had a hilarious new rom-com from Jackie Walker.  Then I read the Thatcher Kelly Collection by Max Monroe.  I had read the first two books in the collection before, but I thoroughly enjoyed the reread.  The new novella in the collection is not to be missed.  I read my first book by Aly Martinez and I was blown away!  Her new book ran me through the gamut of emotions in only the best way.  Finally, I was able to read the first two books of the McCabe Brothers series by Julie Capulet which have been on my list for a while.  I continue to work on the backlists of my favorite authors, and as I have committed to fewer ARCs in the next few months, I hoping to really make some headway there during that time.  I am a lucky lady because I read five fabulous books this week that covered a range of tropes and emotions.  I...
