Book reviews for books read January 1st-9th

Well, we are nine days into a new year and I have managed to read two books- both ARCs. The world is more than a little crazy. My personal life has been in turmoil. Everything feels like it's falling apart.

Occasionally, I can focus enough to escape. Both of these books made me laugh and smile. Both of these books made me feel lighter in dark times. I appreciate these authors for creating these stories  more than I can say. They beamed some light into my life. You should read them.

Until next time, I hope we all manage to find some more light and some hope for a brighter future.

Grumpiest Billionaire (Small Town Sisterhood #2)

by Pippa Grant

ARC: Release Date- 01/08/2026

#Billionaire #RoadTrip #ForcedProximity #EnemiesToLovers #RomanticComedy #ARC

I am voluntarily leaving this honest review after receiving an advance reader copy of the book.

Written in first person from an alternating, dual POV, this can be read as a standalone and ends with a HEA. Readers who haven’t read the first book in this interconnected series will find that there are spoilers in this book for book one.

Daphne is a disinherited former socialite who tries to do the right thing. Unfortunately, that lands her as a stowaway in her the car of her sister’s ex-fiancé as he runs away from his life. Oliver is a seriously hot mess. Daphne is the fun, feisty FMC who brings him to his knees.  There is so much to love about this book. Puns, wild situations, interesting secondary characters, and the road trip of a lifetime. I couldn’t wait to see who they would meet, or what would happen next.  There are spicy scenes, as forced proximity can make happen. There is also a genuine friendship and respect that forms between Daphne and Oliver. Finally, there is so much fun and love between them. It made my heart smile. And don't forget the laugh-out-loud moments.

I adore that this author has her books in KU. It makes binging them so easy.

About Bucking Time (Out to Pasture #1)

by Marika Ray & Sylvie Stewart

ARC: Release Date- 01/08/2026

#FriendsToLovers #FakeRelationship #Cowboy #SingleDad #SmallTown #ARC

I am voluntarily leaving this honest review after receiving an advance reader copy of the book.

Book one in a new series has a prologue written in third person. The rest of the book is written in first person from an alternating dual POV, can be read as a standalone, and ends with a HEA.

Dallas and Shelby meet at the beginning of high school and become fast best friends. Twenty-=five years later, as they each turned 40, they finally realized they were meant to be more. Set in Big Knob, Oklahoma, this book is the beginning of a family series set on a ranch. Shelby is a veterinarian for livestock and large animals in their county. She is smart, feisty, and strong. She has faced loss in her life and has recently been grappling with her horrible romantic choices. Dallas is a charmer, a playboy, Shelby’s best friend, and a good guy under his cluelessness. They must overcome fear of ruining the friendship, Dallas’ utter obliviousness to his own feelings, and Shelby’s vision of what Dallas is capable of to get their HEA, but they make it.

This was a fun read with lots of southern charm, hilarious small-town names for things, and interesting secondary characters. The Gamble family promises to bring laughter and love to readers with their banter, love for each other, and witty southern sayings. I can’t wait for the rest of the series.

Book reviews for books read June 1st-14th

Happy weekend!  It has been a busy couple of weeks but I managed to read 6 books. Two ARCs, and four books from my TBR. I have been working on reading the backlist of Swati M.H., and managed to read all but one of her books prior to assisting her at the HEA Reader Event in Indianapolis on June 7th. Then I joyfully read two ARCs, both over 400 pages. Then I needed something a little different. I needed to break away from traditional, contemporary romance and was able to fit in a paranormal rom com and a monster romance. Now I am back to ARCs.  There are so many good books to read. I am exceedingly grateful to the authors who have written and are writing books that suck me into their imaginary worlds. Thank you authors for giving me a way to escape reality for a little while and guaranteeing me that happy ending. Till next time, happy reading. Book reviews for books read September 21st-30th

This review post is late due to a family emergency that happened about ten days ago now. I feel like I am finally getting my self together a little bit today and was able to put this together finally. During the last week of the month, I read one ARC, one book for book club, and three smutty novellas. Check out my reviews and add so books to your TBR today. My month in review. September turned out to be a good reading month for me. Most of the ARCs that I read that released in September, I actually read in August. That freed up some time to read from my TBR and finish two reading challenges. During the last week of the month, I finished the A to Z reading challenge. Earlier this month, I completed the B.A.N.G. Book Club reading challenge. I also took this as an opportunity to read new-to-me authors and fit in several novellas. Out of the 23 books I read and the 2 I did not finish, I read 19 new-to-me authors! That has to be a record for me. There is a place for smutty insta-love ...

Book reviews for books read October 20th-31st

I read two arcs in the second part of October. They were both wonderful reads. Obviously, my personal life has impacted my reading as I only finished 5 books this month. I can't tell you when the last time was that I read so little. The positive part was all of the books I read this month were very good. Until next time, happy reading! Can't Believe You Came (Mile High Matched #5)  by Christina Hovland ARC: Release Date- 10/24/2025 #CinnamonRollHero #OppositesAttract #ARC I am voluntarily writing this honest review after receiving an advance reader copy of the book. It is written in third person, can be read as a standalone, and ends with a HEA. I have loved this series from the beginning. It is wonderful to finally see the last Dvornakov get their HEA. Zach is a cinnamon roll hero to love. He falls first, fast, and hard for Piper. Piper, who is type A personified, does her best to control every situation she is in and Zach is an outlier. His calm and steady presence c...
