Book reviews for books read October 20th-31st

I read two arcs in the second part of October. They were both wonderful reads. Obviously, my personal life has impacted my reading as I only finished 5 books this month. I can't tell you when the last time was that I read so little. The positive part was all of the books I read this month were very good.

Until next time, happy reading!

Can't Believe You Came (Mile High Matched #5)

by Christina Hovland

ARC: Release Date- 10/24/2025

#CinnamonRollHero #OppositesAttract #ARC

I am voluntarily writing this honest review after receiving an advance reader copy of the book. It is written in third person, can be read as a standalone, and ends with a HEA.

I have loved this series from the beginning. It is wonderful to finally see the last Dvornakov get their HEA. Zach is a cinnamon roll hero to love. He falls first, fast, and hard for Piper. Piper, who is type A personified, does her best to control every situation she is in and Zach is an outlier. His calm and steady presence completely derails her thoughts about love and commitment. He loves her until she can’t help but admit she loves him back. Her baggage makes her doubt everything, but Zach and the rest of his family show up and prove love is possible.

This was a fun read. I adored Zach and understood Piper. All of the drama as they planned Anna and Drake’s wedding just added to the story. And for the readers who have read the rest of the series: the epilogue by Babushka was the icing on the wedding cake.

Bar Down (Nashville Knights Hockey #4) by Emily Silver

ARC: Release Date-10/24/2025

#AgeGap #Celebrity #CurvyGirl #GrumpyHero #Sports #FriendsToLovers #ARC

I am voluntarily leaving this honest review after receiving an advance reader copy of the book. It is written in first person from an alternating dual POV, can be read as a standalone, and ends with a HEA.

Quinn is a pop star, and Jasper is a professional hockey player for the Nashville Knights. Originally, they find each other through a dating app using anonymous usernames. I loved the banter in their messages and how they were able to get to know each other well before they met. There is a little bit of a “You’ve Got Mail” vibe in that one of them figures out who the other one is early on, but it takes the other one a while to figure it out. I love that Quinn is still positive despite being broken by her ex. Jasper has just about given up on love when he falls face first for Quinn. I loved how much he adored her and supported her in a way she had never had before. I adored the cat jokes, the chemistry between the characters, and the subtle references to another real-life pop star romance. I also loved that there was no third act break-up. This was a happy and heart-warming read that closes the series in the very best way.

Book reviews from the week of June 7th

The weekend is almost over as I type this but this is me running behind this week. What a week it has been! I have worked a lot at the job, the hubby had surgery, and we celebrated both my 33rd wedding anniversary and Father's Day.  I read one ARC, two books from my TBR, and one new-to-me author. I have found that after I read a really good book I need to read something a little different to get over the book hangover. That happened twice this week. After I finished the Harlow James ARC, I read an escort book by Leigh James that has been on my kindle for ages. After I read Lyndsey Gallagher's newest release, I started Escort Training which I think I picked up free a while back. That led me down a rabbit hole to reading the whole series. I have decided to review that whole series together as opposed to reviewing each book individually as they are really one story on three stages. It was a fabulous variety of reads this week and now I need to get serious and get back to ARCs. ...

Book reviews for books read September 21st-30th

This review post is late due to a family emergency that happened about ten days ago now. I feel like I am finally getting my self together a little bit today and was able to put this together finally. During the last week of the month, I read one ARC, one book for book club, and three smutty novellas. Check out my reviews and add so books to your TBR today. My month in review. September turned out to be a good reading month for me. Most of the ARCs that I read that released in September, I actually read in August. That freed up some time to read from my TBR and finish two reading challenges. During the last week of the month, I finished the A to Z reading challenge. Earlier this month, I completed the B.A.N.G. Book Club reading challenge. I also took this as an opportunity to read new-to-me authors and fit in several novellas. Out of the 23 books I read and the 2 I did not finish, I read 19 new-to-me authors! That has to be a record for me. There is a place for smutty insta-love ...

Book reviews for books read January 1st-10th

Happy weekend and Happy 2025! I am starting the year strong. I have read 3 ARCs, 1 full-length novel, and 3 more novellas so far this year. The 3 ARCs were all fun reads, the next book in the Boston Billionaire Bachelors series was a fun ride, and the three monster novellas were still an enjoyable escape from reality.  I am traveling unexpectedly this month after my dad was hospitalized.  I will spend the next week in West Virginia helping my brother and helping my dad get some strength back before I return home. I am hopeful that means some dedicated reading time while I am here since there is no shortage of snow. Until next week, happy reading.
