Book reviews for books read November 24th-30th

For this last week of November, I read two arcs and a novella. Included in this post is my blog review for Pippa Grant's surprise holiday release from earlier this month.  I am continuing to streamline my commitments so that I can do more mood reading. I am excited for the coming months and what they will bring.  Check out these reviews and add these to your TBR today.

Snowed in With Mr. Heartbreaker (Bro Code #5)

by Pippa Grant

ARC: Release Date- 11/12/2024

#AgeGap #Celebrity #OneBed #SnowedIn #Holiday #Novella #ARC

I actually finished this ARC 11/7/2024 but because it was a surprise release I held my blog review. Then I missed it in my last post.  Here it is.

Cash Rivers gets his book!!!!!  Written in first person from an alternating dual POV, this novella can be read as a standalone and ends with HEA.

A new addition to the Bro Code series gives Cash his happy ending with up-and-coming artist Aspen. Readers who have read other books by this author will recognize Cash as one of the members of the former Bro Code boy band and current movie star hot shot. We met Aspen in real Fake Love as a rising artist and friend of Waverly Sweet.

I loved getting to know both of these characters better. Aspen has some baggage from a less than happy childhood. Cash is a little aimless but has had a huge crush on Aspen (his renter) for over a year. I loved how their relationship was developed. Thei attraction to each other is undeniable. Once they are honest with each other, the mutuality of it makes it obvious that they could have something really good together. Steamy times in a snowed in cabin made this a quick and fun read. I really enjoyed the dynamic between Cash and Aspen as they learn more about each other. I loved Cash’s protectiveness of her and how he treated her so well. This is one holiday read that should not be missed this season.

Forever the Highlands (The Highlands #6)
by Samantha Young

ARC: Release Date- 12/5/2024

#BrothersBestFriend #FriendsToLovers #Celebrity #RomanticSuspense #SingleDad #SmallTown #ARC

Written in first person from an alternating dual POV, this ends withs a fantastic HEA. Though Fyfe and Eilidh’s romance is contained in this book, both characters play important roles, and their story is set up in book 5. In addition, their book contains spoilers for other books in the series so readers should be aware if that is something they mind or not.  Readers should also consider the content warnings the author offers for all books in this series.

Fyfe is the epitome of the hot nerd hero. I loved him before, but I really fell in love with him in this book.  His childhood trauma affects how easily he risks his heart. Though he has always cared for Eilidh, he holds himself back until he finally has an epiphany and then he is all in. Eilidh is a wonderful character who goes through a lot in this book. It was fun to read as she matured and read how her relationship with Fyfe develops and changes over several years. Fyfe’s heart bursts wide open when a baby is left on his doorstep.  He realizes his capacity to love and care for someone else is greater than he ever knew. Eilidh falls hard for the baby girl and how she is with little Millie is special and moving.

I loved the heat and attraction between Fyfe and Eilidh.  I appreciated the author’s guide pronouncing their names correctly.  I adored the little family they became. I was on the edge of my seat as they face multiple obstacles on the way to their happy forever. This was the perfect end to this series. The author even included a bonus epilogue with updates from each couple in the series.  I have enjoyed every book, and this one was no exception. If you like romantic suspense and steamy romance set in a love letter to the Scottish Highlands, do not let this series pass you by.

Kilted All the Way (Kilted Hearts) by Kait Nolan

ARC: Release Date- 12/06/2024

#BWWM #Cowboy #Holiday #OneBed #FriendsToLovers #RoadTrip #Novella #ARC

This fun holiday novella is a spin off from the Kilted Hearts series and gives readers the HEA for Pippa and Zeke. It is written in first person from an alternating dual POV, can be read as a standalone, and ends in a HEA.

I adored the friendship that Pippa and Zeke have formed over the past 3 years since Zeke’s best friend Raleigh moved to the Scottish Highlands. I adored the affection and attraction they both secretly shared. I love a one bed holiday romance, and this one was fab. I especially liked seeing Zeke in his cowboy element but in Scotland. HOT. I adored the heat between Zeke and Pippa. This was a wonderful add on to the series. I am excited to see more glimpses of them in the current Special Ops Scots series set in their village.

Hot & Rowdy (To Tame A Burly Man #1) by Frankie Love

#Cowboy #Virgin #SmallTown #Instalove #Novella

This novella is written in first person from an alternating dual POV. It can be read as a standalone and ends with a HEA.

This was a steamy, low angst read with instant love and no 3rd act breakup. Cash is a hot cowboy who falls hard and fast for Cassidy. She falls hard and fast right back. These two were made for each other. It was fun to read a gruff cowboy get his HEA.

Book reviews for books read May 3rd - May 10th

Happy weekend!  I read two ARCs this week. They were both very different and both very good. Marika Ray's new book is going to be the perfect summer read. Take it to the lake or the beach and fully enjoy the quirky romance between Maple and Holt. I promise you will adore the meddling seniors along the way. Then I read an arc by a debut author and it knocked  my socks off. When was the last time you got a book hangover from a brand new author? Yeah, it is a rare thing but it happened to me this week.  Check my reviews and add these to your TBR. You wont be sorry. Until next time, happy reading. Anchored by Marika Ray ARC: Release Date- 05/13/2025 #FakeRelationship #ForcedProximity #SmallTown #SecondChance #ARC I am voluntarily leaving this honest review after receiving an advance reader copy of the book. This standalone is written in first person from an alternating dual POV and ends with a HEA. Maple (32) is having a crisis of confidence due to many factors when sh...

Best Reads of 2024

It is 2025! It feels like 2024 flew by.  This year's "best of" list is a little different.  In part this is due to time constraints and in part due to the fact that some trope categories have a LOT of excellent reads.  I just could not narrow them down to even eight for the graphics. I obviously have my favorite tropes, as this list will tell you. If you don't see a trope here on this list, it may be that I read one and it just wasn't quite a five star read for me. Most of the books I read are either four or five star reads. I have found what I like, and I tend to stick to it. You can search the labels on the main page of my blog or search in the general search bar to pull up books from another category and read my reviews. If a book is on this list, it was a five star read for me. That means I loved it, I found no major flaws in timeline, editing, or characters, and I would want to read it again. The links I am including are for Amazon out of ease, but several o...

Book reviews for books read May 11th-25th

I read three ARCs and 2 books from my TBR in the last 2 weeks. I feel good about that considering that life at home has been pretty full lately. May has been an excellent reading month for me. There are so many good releases right now, it is impossible for me to keep up. These are all worth adding to your TBR. Check my reviews and add them to your list. Until next time, happy reading. Built To Last (Park Avenue Promise #3) by Lexi Blake ARC: Release Date- 05/27/2025 #EnemiesToLovers #Celebrity #Workplace  #ARC I am voluntarily leaving this honest review after receiving an advance reader copy of the book. This is the third book in the series, and it is written in first person from Harper’s POV. This book is driven heavily by dialogue, and I personally did not miss having the male POV. Though it fully contains the love story of Harper and Reid, I think readers will gain the most value from reading this series in order. The friendship and found family relationship between Ivy, ...
