Book reviews for April 1st through April 8th

I am still recovering from traveling the past few weeks.  I was able to catch up on ARCs that released this week.  They were both fantastic!  I swear I will have more than reviews coming soon.  I have a night shift and another trip this weekend before I can truly relax and catch up.  I hope everyone enjoys these two new releases while I do that.  Happy reading!

Over My Brother's Dead Body, Chase Andrews

(Kingsmen Football Stars #3) by Piper Rayne

ARC: Release Date- 04/04/2023

#Sports #BrothersBestFriend #GrumpySunshine #ARC

5 STARS

Book three in the Kingsmen series can be read as a standalone and ends with a HEA.  It is written in first person from an alternating dual POV.

Chase is one of my favorite kinds of heroes.  He is huge, growly, and grumpy but he has a soft marshmallow heart.  Twyla is the petite sister to Miles.  She moves to San Francisco for a break after her engagement falls apart in Connecticut.  She mourns the future she had planned until she is able to see the possibility of a better future she never imagined.

I adored Chase.  He is immediately torn about his feelings for Twyla.  He has never had a relationship and is a little clueless, which is adorable.  Twyla can’t help her emotions becoming involved with Chase.  She is s a romantic soul anyway.  When he makes her feel cared for and safe, she has no choice but fall for his insanely hot muscles.  I loved their friendship.  I adored how he opens up to Twyla and wants to tell her things he never talks about with anyone else.  I love the cat and how that relationship also gives Chase something he didn’t know he needed.  The chemistry between the characters is hot and results in hot physical scenes.  When they make love for the first time together (when they accept there is more) is truly beautiful.

I have loved all the books in this series, but Chase is by far my favorite hero.  I loved him.

The Tryst (The Virgin Society #2) by Lauren Blakely

ARC: Release Date- 04/05/2023

#SingleDad #Forbidden #AgeGap #OneNightStand #Virgin #ARC

5 STARS

Book two in this series can be read as a standalone and ends with a HEA.  It is written in first person from an alternating dual POV.

Nick (38) is a successful businessman. His company focuses on investing in tech companies.  He is divorced with a 21-year-old son.  Layla (23) recently graduated with her MBA and is looking for promotional and marketing support for her app that she developed in college. When she sees Nick, she knows she wants him and decides to go after him.

I absolutely loved Nick.  I adored how fast and hard he falls for Layla.  They are perfect for each other.  I love their chemistry.  I love how they support each other.  I love their hot physical and emotional times together.  I really like how they grow together.  It was tough to put this book down for life events.  Layla is bold, intelligent, and fierce.  She is absolutely one of my favorite heroines this year so far.   I love her ability to go after what she wants at a young age.  I love the way she can communicate with the people she loves. I adore the way she is with Nick.  Yum.  Yum. Yum.

I am hooked.  I missed book one of this series, but you can bet I will be going back to read it.

Book reviews for books read May 3rd - May 10th

Happy weekend!  I read two ARCs this week. They were both very different and both very good. Marika Ray's new book is going to be the perfect summer read. Take it to the lake or the beach and fully enjoy the quirky romance between Maple and Holt. I promise you will adore the meddling seniors along the way. Then I read an arc by a debut author and it knocked  my socks off. When was the last time you got a book hangover from a brand new author? Yeah, it is a rare thing but it happened to me this week.  Check my reviews and add these to your TBR. You wont be sorry. Until next time, happy reading. Anchored by Marika Ray ARC: Release Date- 05/13/2025 #FakeRelationship #ForcedProximity #SmallTown #SecondChance #ARC I am voluntarily leaving this honest review after receiving an advance reader copy of the book. This standalone is written in first person from an alternating dual POV and ends with a HEA. Maple (32) is having a crisis of confidence due to many factors when sh...

Best Reads of 2024

It is 2025! It feels like 2024 flew by.  This year's "best of" list is a little different.  In part this is due to time constraints and in part due to the fact that some trope categories have a LOT of excellent reads.  I just could not narrow them down to even eight for the graphics. I obviously have my favorite tropes, as this list will tell you. If you don't see a trope here on this list, it may be that I read one and it just wasn't quite a five star read for me. Most of the books I read are either four or five star reads. I have found what I like, and I tend to stick to it. You can search the labels on the main page of my blog or search in the general search bar to pull up books from another category and read my reviews. If a book is on this list, it was a five star read for me. That means I loved it, I found no major flaws in timeline, editing, or characters, and I would want to read it again. The links I am including are for Amazon out of ease, but several o...

Book reviews for books read May 11th-25th

I read three ARCs and 2 books from my TBR in the last 2 weeks. I feel good about that considering that life at home has been pretty full lately. May has been an excellent reading month for me. There are so many good releases right now, it is impossible for me to keep up. These are all worth adding to your TBR. Check my reviews and add them to your list. Until next time, happy reading. Built To Last (Park Avenue Promise #3) by Lexi Blake ARC: Release Date- 05/27/2025 #EnemiesToLovers #Celebrity #Workplace  #ARC I am voluntarily leaving this honest review after receiving an advance reader copy of the book. This is the third book in the series, and it is written in first person from Harper’s POV. This book is driven heavily by dialogue, and I personally did not miss having the male POV. Though it fully contains the love story of Harper and Reid, I think readers will gain the most value from reading this series in order. The friendship and found family relationship between Ivy, ...
