About ROYALLY NOT READY:

So there I was selling bikinis out of my truck in South Beach Miami, getting ready to kick off a wet t-shirt contest when the world’s biggest grouch approached me - Keller Fitzwilliam.

The man had the sultriest British accent I've ever heard. And he looked like he just walked off a Viking boat and into a suit tailored specifically for his impressively muscular frame. Only problem is, he had the warmth of an ice pick and he kept telling me he was here to take me back to his home country.

Of course, I didn't follow him. I might be up for a good time, but I'm also educated enough to know leaving with a stranger isn't smart. Well, that's until he mentioned my mom's name. My mom who passed away several years ago.

So after some serious fact-checking, my bikini-clad bum went with him to a sub-arctic country I had never heard of just north of the British Isles, where I found out my grandpa was the king of said freezing country, and I was the one and only heir.

Desperate to learn more about my mom, I decided to give this princess thing a chance.

Good idea, right? Wrong.

Because Mr. Ice Pick was put to the task of training me and he’s not just cold as ice, he’s pompous, aggravating, and possessive. And did I mention we have to share a bathroom in a tiny castle?

We are oil and water every single day and even though he’s training me to be queen, I have this simmering desire to kneel before him.

My Review:

5 STARS

This new standalone is written in first person from an alternating dual POV and ends with a HEA. It is HOT, HOT, HOT.  It has a little kink, some laughs, and a wonderful story where both characters end in a future they never expected.  The book takes both from completely unprepared for their eventual future to finally ready.

Lilly was a joy to read.  She is sarcastic and funny and doesn’t hesitate to do everything she can to get under Keller’s skin.  Keller is buttoned up tight, drowning in duty and the expectations of limits that are not actually real.  I love how she gets him to loosen up and how he draws a more serious side out of her.  Keller has an emotional depth that unfolds as the story progresses and completely endeared him to me.  They are good for each other.  As Lilly decides whether she can take on the responsibility of becoming the future queen and Keller contemplates what it means for him to have deep feelings for her if she is in that role, their romance is not always smooth sailing.  They are seriously HOT when they finally give into the physical attraction that burns between them.  I also love the poetic side of the story.  It was super romantic, and I certainly swooned a time or two.  This one is going down as one of my top books by this author and I recommend it for anyone who wants a steamy, royal romance with a strong heroine and a hero who will make you break out a fan.

Emma Wilder and John Hartley narrate ROYALLY NOT READY in duet, and their performances are perfection! Grab your earbuds and dive into this aural sensation today!

Book reviews for books read January 19th-24th

Happy weekend! I decided that since I hit 7 books this week I should just go ahead and push this out today. I will read at least one more today but you will see that review next week. I had a gap between ARCs! I went back and finished the Kings of Avalier series that I started in February 2024.  SO GOOD! They are new adult, which is not my norm, but the fantasy realm made them un-put-down-able. I am thrilled to meet the author in Phoenix in a couple of weeks. I read the next book in the J. Saman series I am making my way through. Those Abbot-Fritz brothers are something else. I adore that whole family. I read four novellas with 2 of those being new-to-me authors. Coco Miller's book was a fun billionaire read, and Regine Abel's Prime Mating Agency was GOLD. You will see in my review that I loved this first in series book, and I am super excited to read the rest of them. I read a wonderful mafia novella by Lee Savino. He is truly obsessed with the girl without it being a terri...

Book reviews for books read September 21st-30th

This review post is late due to a family emergency that happened about ten days ago now. I feel like I am finally getting my self together a little bit today and was able to put this together finally. During the last week of the month, I read one ARC, one book for book club, and three smutty novellas. Check out my reviews and add so books to your TBR today. My month in review. September turned out to be a good reading month for me. Most of the ARCs that I read that released in September, I actually read in August. That freed up some time to read from my TBR and finish two reading challenges. During the last week of the month, I finished the A to Z reading challenge. Earlier this month, I completed the B.A.N.G. Book Club reading challenge. I also took this as an opportunity to read new-to-me authors and fit in several novellas. Out of the 23 books I read and the 2 I did not finish, I read 19 new-to-me authors! That has to be a record for me. There is a place for smutty insta-love ...

Book reviews for the week of November 26th to November 30th

It is hard to believe we are on the last day of November.  This year has flown by so fast!  Since Sunday, I have read two ARCs and listened to a holiday book novella by a new-to-me author. Both Samantha Young's and Sariah Wilson's books were set in Scotland.  If my family catches me with a slight Scottish accent, then this is why.  Piper Rayne next release also happens to be the last ARC I am scheduled to read for a 2023 release.  For the month of December, or at least the first half of it, I am going to be able to indulge my mood reader without deadlines.  I am looking at my TBR now to see where my reading will go.  I hope these reviews help you anticipate some new reads to add to your TBR.  As always, I wish you a week of happy endings.
