Book Blog Tour: "The Redo" by Max Monroe

Blurb:

He doesn’t do relationships.

He definitely doesn’t fall in love.

The Redo, a steamy, friends to lovers rom-com from New York Times bestselling author Max Monroe, is out now!

Put a finger down if you’ve ever been a single woman who got stuck in a New York City elevator in the middle of a summer blackout with your former high school sweetheart—whom you haven’t seen in years—while pregnant with a baby that isn’t biologically yours. And you can’t believe how handsome that blast from your past is, so you unwittingly flirt with him a little even though your life is so crazy complicated you’re barely keeping your head above water, but everything about him makes you think you could totally still be in love with him.

*puts a finger down*

What? Just me?

Needless to say, my current status is thorny. And no, I didn’t miss how close that word is to another one.

Even though he’s the epitome of tall, dark, and incredibly handsome, Remington Winslow has been a single bachelor for most of his life. It’s clichéd and basic—until you consider the fact that once upon a terrible time, he got left at the altar.

He doesn’t do relationships. He definitely doesn’t fall in love.

And I’m just trying to survive a tangled web of unexpected motherhood and running one of the top real estate firms in the city that never sleeps.

He’s the jaded guy who doesn’t want to settle down, and I’m the career-focused woman with more baggage than a 747 can hold.

We’re just two friends who used to be in love.

Now, if someone would tell my hormones I’m not a teenager anymore, I’d be set.

Keep reading for a look inside The Redo!

My fingers run across the screen quickly, and I don’t even bother looking up before stepping inside the elevator—and bumping right into another human.

He grunts as he catches my momentum by the tops of my arms, and I nearly jump into another dimension.

“Oh my gosh!” I cry, embarrassed by my rudeness. “I’m so sorry. I wasn’t paying attention at all.” Honestly, I’m still kind of not as I finish typing a message to my worthless assistant, but once I hit send, I tuck my phone into my purse, ready to give him my full attention.

Or, at least, as much as my mortification will allow.

I cringe and look up into crystalline-blue eyes then, just as a smile is curling onto the handsome stranger’s face. But it only takes a millisecond for me to realize he isn’t a stranger at all. Truth be told, he’s as little a stranger as a man can be—my first real love and the man I gave my virginity to when I was sixteen years old. It seems like a lifetime ago and just yesterday all at once, but the memory of his gentle hands coaxing my nervous hips up to meet his is the kind of thing you don’t forget. No matter how many years have gone by.

“Maria?” he asks, his smile deepening further, if you can believe it.

Me, though? I’m nearly speechless. Because I haven’t seen my high school sweetheart Remington Winslow in two f*cking decades.

And yes, trust me, if you got an eyeful of everything that Remy is now, you’d know it absolutely deserves the use of the f-word. Same strong jaw, same intense eyes, same full lips and dark hair—somehow, he looks as good as I remember. Maybe even better.

Goodness, he’s aged well.

“Remy.” His name passes over my tongue and has the power to bring back so many memories of the past.

Is it true what they say about your first love?

 That you’ll always love them?

5 STARS

Remy finally gets his HEA!!!!  I am so excited!  I have been waiting for Remy to find love since I met him in Scoring the Billionaire when I read it the first time back in 2018.  Maria is perfect for him.  Their story is written in first person from an alternating dual POV.

Remy, oldest Winslow brother, is 44 when he gets stuck in an elevator with a very pregnant woman who turns out to be his old high school sweetheart.  Maria, 42, is a fierce professional realtor who specializes in expensive NYC real estate and owns her own firm.  When she gets stuck with Remy she almost to term with her pregnancy.  They catch up some, but Maria’s life is complicated.  That does not stop Remy from pursuing contact with her.

I adore Remy: always have.  Maria has a heartbreaking back story. I loved her and she was perfect for Remy.   I loved that she knew him so well when he was a more lighthearted, yet always responsible boy.  I loved that he was her first, and the trust they had in each other then.   There are many humorous moments over the course of the story.  There is plenty of heat between these two also.  Their intimate scenes are packed with emotion and the longing for more.  I really enjoyed how their families were so connected when they were young, and how that paves the way for Maria to be easily welcomed back into the Winslow clan with her baby.  And Remy with the baby?  You guys!!!!  You need to read that.  HOT. HOT. HOT.  Maria seriously never stood a chance at getting away.

Reading all the Winslow brothers together and in love was special.  Even Mama Winslow has found her groove.  Lexi and her relationship with Remy is integral to Remy’s person and his comfort with the baby.  I also love the relationship that is formed between Lexi and Maria: truly special.  This was a fantastic read.  It makes me want to reread the whole series all over again back-to-back.  There are surprises along the way, which I will not share.  The bonus epilogues are true perfection: they wrap up this series in a way I never expected but loved with all my heart.  This author duo keeps getting better and better.  I highly recommend this series.

A Tale of Three Signings (Spring 2024 book signing recap)

Over the past seven weeks I attended three book signings, each two weeks apart, I started at the Sweetgrass Author Event in Charleston, SC. From there I visited some family in West Virginia and Pennsylvania before my oldest daughter and I traveled to Ellicott City, MD, for Charm City Romanticon. After that, I returned home to Colorado before driving to Aurora for Readers Take Denver, where I was assisting Sara Madderson/Elodie Hart and also had a reader ticket. Below I will share some pictures and a recap of each signing as it was for me.  Sweetgrass was the fifth signing event I have attended that was put on by Southern Belles. It was also undoubtably the largest. With a stellar author lineup, there were a lot of tickets sold. In my opinion, probably too many. For a six hour signing, I was able to get to a shockingly few authors in my time there. They hit a few snags with this one.  First, let me talk about the city of Charleston.  Rich in history, with out of thi...

Best Reads of 2024

It is 2025! It feels like 2024 flew by.  This year's "best of" list is a little different.  In part this is due to time constraints and in part due to the fact that some trope categories have a LOT of excellent reads.  I just could not narrow them down to even eight for the graphics. I obviously have my favorite tropes, as this list will tell you. If you don't see a trope here on this list, it may be that I read one and it just wasn't quite a five star read for me. Most of the books I read are either four or five star reads. I have found what I like, and I tend to stick to it. You can search the labels on the main page of my blog or search in the general search bar to pull up books from another category and read my reviews. If a book is on this list, it was a five star read for me. That means I loved it, I found no major flaws in timeline, editing, or characters, and I would want to read it again. The links I am including are for Amazon out of ease, but several o...

Book reviews from the week of May 19th

Happy weekend. This week I read three ARCs and two books from my TBR.  All three ARCs will release the first week of June and the two books on my TBR have been on my kindle for a while. They served as perfect palette cleansers between these wonderful ARCs. Both books from my TBR offered heroines with disability. In The Marquess and I, Willow is blind. In Wolf Signs, the heroine is deaf. I felt like the authors handled both situations well within their stories and it made them interesting reads. Check out my reviews and add these to your TBR today if they grab you. I don't think you will regret it. Happy reading! My Royal Showmance (Park Avenue Promise #2)  by Lexi Blake ARC: Release Date- 06/04/2024 #Royal #SecretRomance #ARC Book two in the series is written in first person from Anika’s POV and ends in a HEA. It can be read as a standalone. If you love reality dating shows like The Bachelor, you are going to love this book. Luca, King of Ravalia, is looking for...
