Book reviews from the week of October 31st

I am technically on vacation for a couple of weeks visiting family in West Virginia and Pennsylvania.  Since I am visiting more, and traveling, I am reading less.  I was still able to read two ARCs and finish listening to one audio book with a narrator I will meet at Indies Invade Philly next weekend.  This week was all about the alpha guy protecting his girl.  I loved it and I hope you will too.

Nashville Dreams (Music City Lovers #3) by Julie Capulet

ARC: Release Date- 11/9/2021

#AlphaHero #InstaLove #Rockstar #ARC

5 STARS

This is the third book in the Music City Lovers series but it can be read as a standalone. It is written in first person from an alternating dual POV.
This story follows the oldest Tucker brother, Kade, as he falls hard and fast for a girl he meets in the rain. Stella ends up in Nashville after a series of events lead her to find out what makes her truly happy. They have an instant connection, attraction, and chemistry that surprises them both. All Kade has ever wanted was music and love. When he finds Stella, he knows he has found what he was looking for. Stella is looking for more from her life and her relationships and when she finds Kade she feels complete.
I love the heart-melting feeling they have when they just know that they have found THE ONE. I love the passion and intensity of emotion between the characters. Though I met Kade in the first two books of the series, I loved really getting to know him in this book. The love, possessiveness, and care he shows Stella is enough to make him my new favorite Tucker brother. I love his heart and vulnerability. I love Stella’s instant commitment to Kade. I love the trust and faith they build quickly as they open up to each other in ways they have not with others. They rely on that trust when things are tough, and I adored it.
This was s swoony, steamy romance. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. I honestly cannot recommend this enough.

Second-In-Command (Men of Hidden Justice #2)

by Melanie Moreland

ARC: Release Date- 11/11/2021

#RomanticSuspense #AlphaHero #InstaLove #ARC

5 STARS

The men of hidden justice are back with Marcus and his road to HEA. It is the second book in the series and it can be read as a standalone. It is written in first person from an alternating dual POV.
Marcus is tough. He has had no one really close to him for a long time. When he finds Melissa, everything changes. His heart is good yet guarded till she breaks down his walls. She is fierce and stubborn despite how broken she is when he finds her. I love her strength and that she is secure enough with him to speak her mind and even argue without fear. She is incredibly brave. They share a passion and an emotional connection that is deep and sweet.
This was an intense story full of danger and action as well as a ton of heat in the bedroom. I had a hard time putting this down. The characters are likable and the story gripping. The pace was perfect, and I appreciated some of the time jumps within the story. I loved it. I can’t wait for more.

Protecting You (Bailey Brothers #1) by Claire Kingsley

Audible Narration by Aaron Shedlock and Samantha Cooke

#Audiobook #FriendsToLovers #NewAdult #Prequel #Reread

5 STARS

This prequel to the Bailey brothers series tells the story of young Asher and Grace. This is the story of how they came together, and how they become separated. The book is written in first person from dual POV. I love how Asher comes to terms with his feelings for Grace and makes the decision to take a chance that it might work out. I love how when Grace realizes that the future she has dreamed of is possible, that all of her priorities shift. The love and connection these two share is palpable. Though this is a shorter novel, I felt like the characters were very well developed and I had a solid understanding of their thoughts and motivations. Asher protects Grace, even though it costs him everything. I am jumping right into the next book so I can get to their HEA.

The audible narration brought the characters to life. It captured the emotions of certain first love. It captured the fear, anxiety, and grief when life as planned gets delayed. I felt all the emotions of this story as I listened. I remembered how much I loved the characters when I first read their story over a year ago. My kitchen is really clean because I couldn't stop listening till I finished. I can't wait to listen to the next one.

Book reviews for books read January 19th-24th

Happy weekend! I decided that since I hit 7 books this week I should just go ahead and push this out today. I will read at least one more today but you will see that review next week. I had a gap between ARCs! I went back and finished the Kings of Avalier series that I started in February 2024.  SO GOOD! They are new adult, which is not my norm, but the fantasy realm made them un-put-down-able. I am thrilled to meet the author in Phoenix in a couple of weeks. I read the next book in the J. Saman series I am making my way through. Those Abbot-Fritz brothers are something else. I adore that whole family. I read four novellas with 2 of those being new-to-me authors. Coco Miller's book was a fun billionaire read, and Regine Abel's Prime Mating Agency was GOLD. You will see in my review that I loved this first in series book, and I am super excited to read the rest of them. I read a wonderful mafia novella by Lee Savino. He is truly obsessed with the girl without it being a terri...

Book reviews for books read October 20th-31st

I read two arcs in the second part of October. They were both wonderful reads. Obviously, my personal life has impacted my reading as I only finished 5 books this month. I can't tell you when the last time was that I read so little. The positive part was all of the books I read this month were very good. Until next time, happy reading! Can't Believe You Came (Mile High Matched #5)  by Christina Hovland ARC: Release Date- 10/24/2025 #CinnamonRollHero #OppositesAttract #ARC I am voluntarily writing this honest review after receiving an advance reader copy of the book. It is written in third person, can be read as a standalone, and ends with a HEA. I have loved this series from the beginning. It is wonderful to finally see the last Dvornakov get their HEA. Zach is a cinnamon roll hero to love. He falls first, fast, and hard for Piper. Piper, who is type A personified, does her best to control every situation she is in and Zach is an outlier. His calm and steady presence c...

Book reviews from the week of June 7th

The weekend is almost over as I type this but this is me running behind this week. What a week it has been! I have worked a lot at the job, the hubby had surgery, and we celebrated both my 33rd wedding anniversary and Father's Day.  I read one ARC, two books from my TBR, and one new-to-me author. I have found that after I read a really good book I need to read something a little different to get over the book hangover. That happened twice this week. After I finished the Harlow James ARC, I read an escort book by Leigh James that has been on my kindle for ages. After I read Lyndsey Gallagher's newest release, I started Escort Training which I think I picked up free a while back. That led me down a rabbit hole to reading the whole series. I have decided to review that whole series together as opposed to reviewing each book individually as they are really one story on three stages. It was a fabulous variety of reads this week and now I need to get serious and get back to ARCs. ...
