A laugh out loud, soul mate chasing rom-com romp, Sarah Ready’s Chasing Romeo is a perfect feel-good novel about finding love where you least expect it.

Chloe Daniels is a starry-eyed romantic who believes in true love, soul mates and happily ever afters. So when a psychic predicts the identity of her soul mate Chloe will do anything to find him.

But there’s a tiny problem.

Chloe’s soul mate is 1 of 7 men, spread across the U.S. and she has only one week to reach him.

Out of desperation she hires Nick O’Shea, a cynical private investigator who thinks soul mates, love and happily ever afters are a load of crap.

Chloe and Nick have nothing in common. She wants her soul mate. He wants to get paid.

But on their crazy, true love chasing road trip across the U.S. Nick starts to wonder if maybe he was wrong about love, and Chloe starts to wonder if she was wrong about the identity of her Romeo.

Soon, Chloe will have to choose between her soul mate and the man she hired to find him.

Opposites attract in the first book of a heartwarming new series by romance author Sarah Ready.

Excerpt

ā€œI’m just asking,ā€ I say, ā€œare you sure you want to bet your future on a myth?ā€ Because, to be honest, something inside me wishes she’d get up and say, screw you, fate, I’m taking my future in my own hands.

ā€œWould I bet my future?ā€ she asks.

I nod and lean forward to hear her answer.

Slowly, she says, ā€œI’d bet everything.ā€

Her words ring in my ears. She’s serious. She’ll do anything to get with this random guy she hasn’t seen in nearly twenty years. It’s like a cosmic joke, except I’m not laughing. I guess I shouldn’t have expected anything less.

ā€œIt’s a myth,ā€ I say. ā€œIt’s not real.ā€

ā€œIt is,ā€ she says. She points her finger at me and jabs me in the chest. ā€œAnd I’m going to prove it to you.ā€ Her hand rests over my heart. We both look down at her touching me. She yanks it back and wipes her hand on her napkin.

No man likes to see a woman wipe herself off after touching him. I scowl and then take her unspoken challenge. ā€œMore likely, by the end of this week, I’ll prove that soul mates don’t exist.ā€

ā€œGood luck, you have hundreds of Aunt Erma’s successes against you.ā€

No worries, I stand by my belief that the whole town of Romeo is suffering from romantic delusions. Hey, the tourism dollars depend on it.

Also, I’d like to push a little bit of reality into this situation and throw out the idea that this guy might not be decent.

ā€œHe could be a rapist,ā€ I say. That gets her attention. Her head snaps up and she glares at me.

ā€œOr a Lothario,ā€ she says. Take that, her eyes say. She bares her teeth at me in a semblance of a grin and I smile back. Game on.

The minstrel who had wandered close again hightails it to the other side of the restaurant.

ā€œHe could be a drug dealer,ā€ I say.

ā€œOr a pharmacist,ā€ she says.

ā€œHe could be an alcoholic.ā€

ā€œA vintner.ā€

ā€œHe’s unemployed,ā€ I say.

ā€œIndependently wealthy.ā€

ā€œHe looks like a frog.ā€

ā€œHe’s a prince,ā€ she says.

ā€œHe’s boring.ā€

ā€œStrong and silent.ā€

I glare at her and she glares back, a smile curving on her lips.

ā€œBad in bed,ā€ I say.

ā€œA sex god.ā€ She bites at her lower lip and I have the urge to take it in my mouth and show her a decade of pent-up wanting. I yank my thoughts from her lips and drop my ace in the hole.

ā€œHe could be an ax murderer,ā€ I say. Take that and chew on it.

She laughs, throaty and low, and her eyes light up. The candlelight sparks off her glowing skin.

ā€œOr,ā€ she says, ā€œhe’s a lumberjack. Mmmm. Sexy ax. I’ll hold the handle. Rawr.ā€ She claws her hand and scratches at the air.

I shake my head. ā€œYou got it.ā€ I hold up my goblet of mead for a toast. ā€œTo Matt Smith. Chloe’s lumberjack soul mate.ā€

Book reviews for books read May 3rd - May 10th

Happy weekend!  I read two ARCs this week. They were both very different and both very good. Marika Ray's new book is going to be the perfect summer read. Take it to the lake or the beach and fully enjoy the quirky romance between Maple and Holt. I promise you will adore the meddling seniors along the way. Then I read an arc by a debut author and it knocked  my socks off. When was the last time you got a book hangover from a brand new author? Yeah, it is a rare thing but it happened to me this week.  Check my reviews and add these to your TBR. You wont be sorry. Until next time, happy reading. Anchored by Marika Ray ARC: Release Date- 05/13/2025 #FakeRelationship #ForcedProximity #SmallTown #SecondChance #ARC I am voluntarily leaving this honest review after receiving an advance reader copy of the book. This standalone is written in first person from an alternating dual POV and ends with a HEA. Maple (32) is having a crisis of confidence due to many factors when sh...

Best Reads of 2024

It is 2025! It feels like 2024 flew by.  This year's "best of" list is a little different.  In part this is due to time constraints and in part due to the fact that some trope categories have a LOT of excellent reads.  I just could not narrow them down to even eight for the graphics. I obviously have my favorite tropes, as this list will tell you. If you don't see a trope here on this list, it may be that I read one and it just wasn't quite a five star read for me. Most of the books I read are either four or five star reads. I have found what I like, and I tend to stick to it. You can search the labels on the main page of my blog or search in the general search bar to pull up books from another category and read my reviews. If a book is on this list, it was a five star read for me. That means I loved it, I found no major flaws in timeline, editing, or characters, and I would want to read it again. The links I am including are for Amazon out of ease, but several o...

A Tale of Three Signings (Spring 2024 book signing recap)

Over the past seven weeks I attended three book signings, each two weeks apart, I started at the Sweetgrass Author Event in Charleston, SC. From there I visited some family in West Virginia and Pennsylvania before my oldest daughter and I traveled to Ellicott City, MD, for Charm City Romanticon. After that, I returned home to Colorado before driving to Aurora for Readers Take Denver, where I was assisting Sara Madderson/Elodie Hart and also had a reader ticket. Below I will share some pictures and a recap of each signing as it was for me.  Sweetgrass was the fifth signing event I have attended that was put on by Southern Belles. It was also undoubtably the largest. With a stellar author lineup, there were a lot of tickets sold. In my opinion, probably too many. For a six hour signing, I was able to get to a shockingly few authors in my time there. They hit a few snags with this one.  First, let me talk about the city of Charleston.  Rich in history, with out of thi...
