All I wanted was to get back home for Christmas, but an unexpected snow blizzard derails my plans. That is until my knight in shining armour arrives.

Devon

Spending Christmas with my vacuous excuse of a family is not how i want to celebrate the holidays but when a damsel in distress needs rescuing along the way, suddenly it doesn't look to bleak.

For one night, I have her all to myself. Maybe we'll both get more than we wished for this Christmas?

My Review:

4.5 STARS

This debut novella is a quick holiday read. Cassidy and Devon work at the same law firm in London.  They do not realize that they are each carrying the cutest crush for each other until weather and circumstances put them together for a road trip.

This book reads very Love Actually as there is heat, humor, romance, and awkward situations.   Cassidy is confident at times and a complete mess at others.  Devon is smart, uber-attractive, and all-muscle with a kind heart.  He falls hard and fast for Cassidy and I adored his possessiveness and need to look after her.  There is lots of British snark and sass in their banter.  I liked the characters and felt like they were well-developed given the short novella length of the book.

This novella is written in first person from a dual POV.  Though this is the author’s debut, I felt the writing was excellent, the pacing was good, and I am certainly looking forward to future books by her.  I recommend this if you want a quick and sassy holiday read.

Author Bio:

HL Packer is quite frankly, a busy bee.

When she’s not running around after her free-spirited three children, and husband. You can find her tending to the dogs, bearded dragons, and snakes that also reside with them.

When she finished her office job for maternity leave, her husband purchased a Kindle E-Reader to give her something to do, and oh what a journey that has been. From reading to reviewing, then blogging and creating Romance Readers Book Box UK. And now, her own words being put out into the world.

When she is not coordinating her worlds, you can find her soaking in a bubbly bath or enjoying a glass of wine, often still with a book in her hand.

Book reviews from the week of June 7th

The weekend is almost over as I type this but this is me running behind this week. What a week it has been! I have worked a lot at the job, the hubby had surgery, and we celebrated both my 33rd wedding anniversary and Father's Day.  I read one ARC, two books from my TBR, and one new-to-me author. I have found that after I read a really good book I need to read something a little different to get over the book hangover. That happened twice this week. After I finished the Harlow James ARC, I read an escort book by Leigh James that has been on my kindle for ages. After I read Lyndsey Gallagher's newest release, I started Escort Training which I think I picked up free a while back. That led me down a rabbit hole to reading the whole series. I have decided to review that whole series together as opposed to reviewing each book individually as they are really one story on three stages. It was a fabulous variety of reads this week and now I need to get serious and get back to ARCs. ...

Book reviews for books read January 1st-10th

Happy weekend and Happy 2025! I am starting the year strong. I have read 3 ARCs, 1 full-length novel, and 3 more novellas so far this year. The 3 ARCs were all fun reads, the next book in the Boston Billionaire Bachelors series was a fun ride, and the three monster novellas were still an enjoyable escape from reality.  I am traveling unexpectedly this month after my dad was hospitalized.  I will spend the next week in West Virginia helping my brother and helping my dad get some strength back before I return home. I am hopeful that means some dedicated reading time while I am here since there is no shortage of snow. Until next week, happy reading. Book reviews for books read September 21st-30th

This review post is late due to a family emergency that happened about ten days ago now. I feel like I am finally getting my self together a little bit today and was able to put this together finally. During the last week of the month, I read one ARC, one book for book club, and three smutty novellas. Check out my reviews and add so books to your TBR today. My month in review. September turned out to be a good reading month for me. Most of the ARCs that I read that released in September, I actually read in August. That freed up some time to read from my TBR and finish two reading challenges. During the last week of the month, I finished the A to Z reading challenge. Earlier this month, I completed the B.A.N.G. Book Club reading challenge. I also took this as an opportunity to read new-to-me authors and fit in several novellas. Out of the 23 books I read and the 2 I did not finish, I read 19 new-to-me authors! That has to be a record for me. There is a place for smutty insta-love ...
