Book reviews from the week of December 20th

Happy holidays! Sometimes during a busy week like this one, short novellas are the perfect reads.  I found the "Mistletoe, Montana" holiday series and was able to devour several of them.  They are quick steamy reads and it was exactly what I needed this week.

Here's wishing you a wonderful holiday season with all the books you want to read.

Delivering His Gifts (Mountain Men of Liberty #10)

by K.C. Crowne

#SingleMomRomance #HolidayRomance #MilitaryRomance #SurprisePregnancy

5 STARS

There is more to this holiday read than the blurb would lead you to believe. This is written in first person from dual POV.

Danielle is a single mom with a horrible, abusive ex. She is barely holding it together trying to save her home and her dog rescue/training facility after a flood. Her little girl, Skylar, is an adorable addition to the story, as are the dogs. I want an Oscar. When Mason approaches her looking for an emotional support dog for his friend, she doesn't trust him because she has been burned so badly in the past.

Mason is a former military medic who has a giant heart. He finds himself looking after an older Vietnam vet and trying to find him an emotional support dog. When he meets Danielle the attraction is instant, but the obstacles are many. When one night in his truck leads to pregnancy, they must navigate friendship and trust while dealing with danger and some horrible people who do not want Danielle to be happy.

I loved that they have to work for the relationship. I love that Mason is a guy who is terrified of being a father, but steps up anyway. I love that Danielle is strong, even when she is under fire from the nasties around her. I love that Mason supports and protects her. I love that his brothers support him and become the family Danielle didn't know she needed. The bedroom is hot and the HEA is super sweet. I really enjoyed this holiday read.

Santa's Cookies (Mistletoe Montana #1) by L. Nicole
#HolidayRomance #OppositesAttract

5 STARS

This was a fun, quick read with some humor, heat, and insta-love. Maddox is a driven, grumpy, CEO. Krissy owns and runs Kringle's B&B. At the beginning of the story, neither one of them is particularly happy, but they have resigned themselves to the life they are living. When Maddox literally crashes into Krissy's life, everything changes. This is an adorable holiday romance. (Think Hallmark with an open door in the bedroom.) I really enjoyed it and I think it is an excellent start to the collaborative series.
Heat Level 4

Winter Vibes (Mistletoe Montana #2) by Frankie Love
#BrothersBestFriend #HolidayRomance

4 STARS

This hot, brother's best friend romance was adorable. I love that Aspyn knows what she wants and takes care of herself while she waits. I love that Cole has been waiting for Aspyn to be all grown up. These two know each other well, and giving in to their chemistry produces a lot of heat because the trust is already there. This was an quick, enjoyable read set on the ski slopes of Mistletoe, Montana.

Her Christmas Soldier (Mistletoe Montana #3)
by Hope Ford
#MilitaryRomance #HolidayRomance #AgeGapRomance

5 STARS

I loved this quick, holiday novella featuring an age-gap romance between a recently retired soldier and the young woman he has been writing letters with for over a year. I love that they got to know each other before actually meeting in person. I love that they have to overcome Gavin's feelings of not being good enough for Cassie. I love that she brings him the holidays for the first time in his life and that they have an adorable HEA. Steam and uncertainty lead to forever in this steamy holiday read.

His Big Package (Mistletoe Montana #4) by Jenika Snow
#HolidayRomance #OppositesAttract #AgeGap

5 STARS

This romance features a giant of a man and a petite woman. The heat is five alarm, and the love is instant in this quick read that I adored. Blythe is an innocent introvert and Logan is a big guy who has been waiting for "the one." He knows as soon as he sees Blythe that she is it for him. This was a fun, hot, holiday read.

His Snow Angel (Mistletoe Montana #5) by Tory Baker
#HolidayRomance #AlphaHero

4 STARS

This quick, and steamy holiday novella features a possessive alpha male hero and the town librarian. I love that they both have held a candle for each other for over a year, but not acted on ot. I love that they both decide to act at the same time. Eve loves Tyson's possessiveness and it works for them. This was a fun read.

Stuffed (Mistletoe Montana #7) by Lena Lucas
#HolidayRomance

4 STARS

Beau is the town baker and a 36 year old virgin who has been saving himself for Wellsie. Wellsie has also been waiting for Beau. I love that they decide to go for it and reveal their feelings at the same time. Beau is adorable as the completely smitten hero. Wellsie is a strong heroine who goes after what she wants. Steam and humor are both included in this quick & steamy holiday novella.

A Tale of Three Signings (Spring 2024 book signing recap)

Over the past seven weeks I attended three book signings, each two weeks apart, I started at the Sweetgrass Author Event in Charleston, SC. From there I visited some family in West Virginia and Pennsylvania before my oldest daughter and I traveled to Ellicott City, MD, for Charm City Romanticon. After that, I returned home to Colorado before driving to Aurora for Readers Take Denver, where I was assisting Sara Madderson/Elodie Hart and also had a reader ticket. Below I will share some pictures and a recap of each signing as it was for me.  Sweetgrass was the fifth signing event I have attended that was put on by Southern Belles. It was also undoubtably the largest. With a stellar author lineup, there were a lot of tickets sold. In my opinion, probably too many. For a six hour signing, I was able to get to a shockingly few authors in my time there. They hit a few snags with this one.  First, let me talk about the city of Charleston.  Rich in history, with out of this world southern cu

Best Reads of 2023

2023 has come to an end and  as a result I have had some time to look back on my best reads from last year.  It is always fun to remember the fantastic books I read.  I love thinking about the worlds the authors created for my escape and enjoyment.  I also am able to see where I had some gaps in my reading.  I read most sub-genres and tropes, but I did not read a single fantasy romance last year.  That made me sad.  I will need to fix that in 2024.  My reading is typically on the lighter side of the spectrum.  Dark romance readers will only find a couple of books in that category here.  Most of my reads are also steamy, with open door scenes that are sometimes explicit and appropriate for mature readers.  My reviews are available on the blog if you need more details about what I liked about a book.  Also, I am including Amazon links to the books so you can read the blurb and decide for yourself if you think my favorite reads are books you might enjoy. Looking at the numbers at the end

Book reviews from the week of May 19th

Happy weekend. This week I read three ARCs and two books from my TBR.  All three ARCs will release the first week of June and the two books on my TBR have been on my kindle for a while. They served as perfect palette cleansers between these wonderful ARCs. Both books from my TBR offered heroines with disability. In The Marquess and I, Willow is blind. In Wolf Signs, the heroine is deaf. I felt like the authors handled both situations well within their stories and it made them interesting reads. Check out my reviews and add these to your TBR today if they grab you. I don't think you will regret it. Happy reading! My Royal Showmance (Park Avenue Promise #2)  by Lexi Blake ARC: Release Date- 06/04/2024 #Royal #SecretRomance #ARC Book two in the series is written in first person from Anika’s POV and ends in a HEA. It can be read as a standalone. If you love reality dating shows like The Bachelor, you are going to love this book. Luca, King of Ravalia, is looking for a queen (
