Book reviews for the week of November 26th to November 30th

It is hard to believe we are on the last day of November.  This year has flown by so fast!  Since Sunday, I have read two ARCs and listened to a holiday book novella by a new-to-me author. Both Samantha Young's and Sariah Wilson's books were set in Scotland.  If my family catches me with a slight Scottish accent, then this is why.  Piper Rayne next release also happens to be the last ARC I am scheduled to read for a 2023 release.  For the month of December, or at least the first half of it, I am going to be able to indulge my mood reader without deadlines.  I am looking at my TBR now to see where my reading will go.  I hope these reviews help you anticipate some new reads to add to your TBR.  As always, I wish you a week of happy endings. Among the Heather (The Highlands Series #2)  by Samantha Young ARC: Release Date- 12/05/2023 #EnemiesToLovers #RomanticSuspense #SmallTown #ARC 4 STARS The title of this book is absolutely perfect for this story. Book two in the series can be

Book reviews from the week of November 19th

Happy weekend!  This week I read four ARCs and a book releasing next week thorough Amazon First Reads.  I hope my reviews can convey how much I loved these books this week.  I am all up in my feels as I write this.  Hopefully, some of these will be just what you are seeking and bring some happiness to your holiday season. I have been thinking a lot lately about romance in general and the romance community in particular.  There is always going to be a negative Nellie here and there, but overall I frequent authors and groups that bring me joy.  I love getting to know like-minded people online.  Then, when we finally get to meet in person it is like reuniting with an old friend instead of meeting a stranger.  Personally, I feel closer to my book friends than many of the people in my "real" life; even some I have known for many years. So in this season of thanksgiving, I would like to give thanks for romance.  I am thankful for interesting characters, fun plots, emotional momen

Book reviews from the week of November 12th

Happy weekend.  What a week!  I read three ARCs this week and two books to meet reading challenges.  Though I have read all of these authors before, it was a real joy to get to read them again.   Lauren Blakely's newest book is inspired by her former Jewel series and I literally could not put it down.  Kathryn Nolan delivers a steamy holiday novella that packs a whole lot of love along with the heat.  Lyndsey Gallagher's upcoming release is a swoony holiday romance that would make a wonderful movie but I want them to keep the steamy scenes too.   I picked up a holiday shifter book by Zoe Chant to meet a reading challenge where either the hero or the heroine was a person of color. Having read one of her books earlier this year, I found this one with the blurb that made me giggle.  The heroine, Emilia is a force to be reckoned with.  Finally, I needed a book with the word "secret or secrets" in the title.  K.C. Crowne as a wide variety of books that met that, and I fo

HEA Reader Event 2023

Hello.  Welcome to by blog post about the HEA Reader Event that was held in Indianapolis, Indiana, last weekend.  It has taken a few days for me to get my thoughts organized to tell everyone about this event.  Though a few of the pictures included in this post belong to me, I must credit several of them to Jen Olson, P.A.  She spent many hours last weekend taking pictures of everything going on. A year ago, my hubby and I were having cocktails in a bar in Oklahoma City with Emily Silver and Tina Snider at the Route 66 author event.  In the course of conversation, Tina and Emily mentioned that they should host a signing event in Indianapolis, where they both live.  The dream was born.  Just over one year later, they pulled off an incredible first year signing event in the heart of America.  They had a phenomenal list of authors sign up and show up.  They included a few extra events in addition to the signing which allowed more time to mingle in a casual setting. They managed to keep e

Book reviews from the week of November 5th

Happy weekend!  This week I read four ARCs.  Historical, holiday, family series, and a touch of romantic suspense gave me a fantastic week of reading.  I hope my reviews help you find a new read to add to your TBR from these new and upcoming releases.  I certainly enjoyed them all.  Until next time, happy reading. Project Duke (Dukes and Secrets #3) by Mariah Stone ARC: Release Date- 11/07/2023 #Historical #OppositesAttract #MarriageOfConvenience #Virgin #ARC 4 STARS Book three in the series presents the complete love story of Calliope and Nathaniel and ends with a HEA.   Because there is an underlying plot/mystery spanning the series, it is best to read this series in order.   Written in third person, this book ends in a little bit of a cliffhanger for that over-arching plot/mystery. Calliope is the 26-year-old sister of a duke. She is intelligent, beautiful, brave, and a little reckless at times.   She harbors a secret shame from her adolescence that returns to haunt her. There

Book reviews from the week of October 29th

Happy weekend!  This week I read two books.  One was an ARC and one is a book that has been on my TBR for almost a year.  Both were five star reads for me. Stephanie Rose delivers a beautifully real grumpy/sunshine romance with Raising the Bar.  Kelly Lakes is a fun little small town filled with characters I have grown to love.  Jude and Claudia are perfect for each other and their happy ending made me feel warm and fuzzy inside. Swati M.H.'s "Adrift" has been on my TBR since Readers Take Denver earlier this year when Emily Silver recommended it as part of a book discussion we were having.  I downloaded then and it sat forlornly on my kindle until this week.  I am currently at the HEA Reader Event in Indianapolis, Indiana this weekend.  This is an inaugural event hosted by Emily Silver and Tina Snider.  When they decided to put this event together, I volunteered to help and this weekend I am assisting Swati M.H. during the signing.  I wanted to make sure I read some of
