Book reviews from the week of August 20th

Happy weekend!  I read five books this week.  Four were ARCs of books releasing in the next week and one was by an author I wanted to read more of to meet a reading challenge.  All were books you should consider adding to your TBR.   I am keeping this short this weekend.  I have a ton of ARCs to read so I  will get to it.  Wishing everyone a fabulous week reading excellent books. Her Rake Fiancé (Dukes and Secrets #2) by Mariah Stone ARC: Release Date- 08/29/2023 #FakeRelationship #Historical #Virgin #ARC 5 STARS Book two in the series can be read as a standalone and ends with a HEA.   That said, there is a mystery that will cover the series that begins in book one.   If a reader begins with book two, there are spoilers about the beginning of the mystery presented in book one. Richard has spent the last five years as a rake.   After having his heart broken, he behaved unlike a gentleman should.   Now he is willing to do anything to get th

Book reviews for the week of August 13th

Happy weekend!  I spent the first half of the week in West Virginia with my dad, one full day traveling to get home, and the past couple of days playing catch up from being gone for three weeks.   One thing traveling is very good for is an amazing audiobook.  I was thrilled to listen to Ripple Effect on audio.  One of my favorite books of all time: Teddy and Stella were perfection in bringing it to life.  I also read three ARCs.  They were all wonderful in their own way.  Two are set in quirky small towns, one is set in London. Check out my reviews to learn more about these upcoming releases. It seems like it must be ARC season, because they just keep rolling in.  I'm not complaining.  I love getting a look at the next release by some of my favorite authors before it is available.  I love being able to help get other readers excited about upcoming releases.  Trust me when I say that August and September are jam-packed full of amazing new books you will not want to miss.  I hope m

Book Blog Tour: "The One I Need" by Chelle Sloan

The One I Need, an all-new opposite-attract, accidental marriage standalone romance full of heat from bestselling author Chelle Sloan is available now!   You’re cordially invited to the wedding of Oliver Price and Izzy McCall…   That’s how my wedding invitations should have started. I should know, I’ve had my wedding planned since I was ten.   I should’ve been wearing a designer tuxedo, not a tuxedo t-shirt.   The wedding should’ve been in a church with family and friends, not in a 1960’s style chapel with Elvis as the officiant.   It’s nothing I ever imagined.   Except the girl.   She’s the only thing about this accidental marriage that is exactly right. Even if we’re complete opposites.   I’m glass-half-full and crazy colored socks. She’s glass-half-empty and power suits.   I love love. She thinks it doesn’t exist.   I want to stay married. She wants a divorce. A problem for all newlyweds, right?   From the moment I met Izzy, I knew she was the only one I’d ever need.   Now I just

Book reviews for August 1st through August 12th

Happy weekend!  I am traveling and looking after my dad and all the animals on is farm while my brother has had a well deserved vacation.  I have read four ARCs in the almost two weeks since August began.  Three of the four are set in small towns and all were heart-warming romances. I am going to keep this short this week.  I hope my reviews help you find a few new reads to add to your TBR.  Happy reading! Start Us Up (Park Avenue Promise #1) by Lexi Blake ARC: Release date- 08/08/2023 #NerdyHero #CinnamonRollHero #ARC 4 STARS Book one in this new series tells the story of Ivy and Heath.  It is written in first person from Ivy’s POV, can be read as a standalone, and ends with a HEA. Ivy’s life has crashed and burned before she returns home to NYC to start over.  She meets Heath through one of her friends and quickly goes into business with him.  It doesn’t take long for their attraction to each other to become more than business partners. I liked the story, though I felt like it was

Twenty Questions with Author Jackie Walker

This week I am talking with Jackie Walker and asked her twenty questions to coincide with her newest release, "Rival Hero" which released yesterday, August 31st. I found Jackie just after she published her debut novel, "Love and Other Chaos".  I laughed hard at the antics of the Amos family and fell in love with Jackie's sarcastic style, her characters' snarky banter, and the steam she incorporated into the story.  I was thrilled to join her ARC team and eventually also become part of her street team as it was definitely one of the best debut novels I have read.  Since 2020, Jackie has released nine novels.  I love watching her grow as an author in both her writing and finding her audience.  Jackie is not in any way pretentious: what you see is what you get.  Readers who love sarcasm, snark and humor that is realistic and sometimes a little over the top should check out Jackie's books.  As you read the answers to my twenty questions, I believe you will
