Book reviews from the week of October 23rd

Caught Up With The Captain (Bad Boy Bakers #5)  by Kait Nolan ARC: Release Date- 10/28/2022 #SecondChance #SecretBaby #Military #SmallTown #ARC 5 STARS This novella is a part of the Bad Boy Bakers series but can be read as a standalone and ends with a HEA.  It is written in third person from an alternating dual POV. I am so happy that Rebecca got her HEA.  As Jonah’s mom, she has been an important support to each of the characters in this series.  When her first love returns to town, things get interesting as he seeks a second chance at a future with her.  Her secret is revealed, and emotional moments happen as everyone comes to grips with the new reality. Rebecca has been a wonderful character throughout the series.  She is strong, and she has survived a lot of heartache to be the successful and complete person she is.  Grey is a wonderful hero.  He is an all-around good guy.  After retiring from the Navy, he returns to his ho...

Book reviews for the week of October 16th

Happy weekend!  I read four books this week including three new-to-me authors.  Some of these books have been on my TBR for a while and some were recently added.  It was a good week with a mix of elements and writing styles.  I hope my reviews help you determine if these will be books you want to add to your TBR.  I wish everyone a wonderful week of reading. Impulsive Love (Mountain Haven #3) by Lea Coll #Sports #SurprisePregnancy #NewAdult #OneNightStand 5 STARS This is my first book by this author, though I have read a short story of hers in an anthology. It is book 3 in a series but can be read as a standalone and ends with a HEA. It is written in first person from an alternating dual POV. Piper is a young woman figuring out what she wants in life, what dreams to pursue, and what her limitations are. I appreciated how she felt stifled by her family's impression of her abilities and how she had been living with those limitations. Colin is a young man wh...

Book reviews from the week of October 9th

Happy weekend!  I had a fabulous reading week.  I read three ARCs and a book from my TBR for Book Club.  Of those, there were two football books (tis the season) and one new-to-me author.  Anna Michael's new release features a neuro-diverse heroine and a former rock star, now billionaire, hero.  I loved their age gap and everything about their story. Samantha Young's new book was my first read by her and I am still thinking about that story many days later.  Emily Silver's new release is a wonderful MM romance with a closeted hero and his journey to come out of  the closet to hold onto the love of a lifetime.  Finally, Wildcat by Max Monroe, was a book that has been on my list for ages.  I adored the sports aspect, but even more so, I loved the way bias against race is addressed and overcome by a forever kind of love.  I hope my reviews help you decide if these are books you need to add to your TBR.  I wish everyone a week of...

Book reviews from the week of October 2nd

My Brother's Forbidden Friend (Greene Family #9)  by Piper Rayne ARC: Release Date- 10/04/2022 #BrothersBestFriend #SmallTown #FamilySeries #ARC 5 STARS This was the perfect couple to wrap the series. Book nine in the Greene Family series can be read as a standalone and ends with a HEA.  That said, Chevelle and Cam appear in the other books of the series and readers will get the most enjoyment from reading the series in order.  It is written in first person from an alternating dual POV. I knew Chevelle and Cam would have a doozy of a story, yet I was unprepared for the emotion they made me feel.  Chevelle has had so much guilt over her mother’s death.   Cam has always been there and there have been many times when they antagonized each other.  They have some fabulous pranks on each other in this book that made me laugh out loud. There have also been times when they have supported each other.  Their attraction to each other has been fierce a...
