Book reviews for the week of June 20th

I had a great week reading.  I read two new-to-me authors to meet a challenge for a forced proximity book.  Then I treated myself to a box set of one of my new favorite authors, Stephanie Rose.  Her Never Too Late series completely captured me and I loved it.  See all of my reviews for the week below. Playing House (The Playboys of Sin Valley #1)  by Cassie-Ann Miller #BrothersBestFriend #FriendToLovers #SportsRomance #AccidentalMarriage #SmallTown #ForcedProximity 4 STARS Jason and Sera are friends who end up married after Sera is left at the alter by someone else. Their story is written in first person from a dual POV. I really enjoyed Jason and Sera. I loved the steam between them, their friendship, and Jason's willingness to change and settle down with the girl he had loved for a long time while refusing to admit his feelings. I love that their crush on each other was really so much more. There is a lot of heat, and some funny moments along the way. ...

Book reviews for the week of June 13th

I read three ARCs this week.  Broody Billionaire is actually a collection of one book and two novellas.  Summer Heat is actually seven novellas.  Ehen I look at it that way maybe I can count it as eleven books. If you are looking for hot summer reads, you need not look any further.  These will have you covered. Alpha Boy (Boys of Summer) by Mika Jolie ARC: Release Date-6/15/2021 #NewAdult #SportsRomance #ARC 5 STARS First love is incredibly sweet. Alexei and Lila met freshman year of college but ran in different circles.  They both felt attraction toward each other yet felt like there would never be a chance for them.  As they near graduation, a text goes awry and manages to bring them together.  Their story is written in first person from a dual POV. I really enjoyed this shorter romance.  This author always does an excellent job of delivering a full, well-developed story and characters regardless of the book length. There is some ...

Book reviews from the week of June 6th

This week I read two ARCs and one book from my TBR to complete a reading challenge requirement. The Perfect Catch is a swoony, slow burn sports romance and I fell head over heels for Walker.  Love Rises is a rebrand of Gabe and Anya's love story.  I adore this book which was so unappreciated with it's previous title.  I am really hoping it gets a wider audience with the rebrand. The story is emotional and steamy as Gabe and Anya find each other when they are both broken and help each other heal.  Finally, I read a new-to-me author, Jasinda Wilder.  I pulled a book from my TBR to meet a reading challenge of reading a book with at least five words in the title.  Lizzy Goes Brains Over Braun is a mature romance and I loved the banter between Lizzy and her friends. The Perfect Catch by Meghan Quinn ARC: Release date- 6/10/2021 #SportsRomance #ForbiddenRomance #WorkplaceRomance #GrumpyHero #SlowBurn #ARC 5 STARS Just this once.  Just five seco...

Book reviews from the week of May 30th

There are some weeks that things happen that make it more difficult to read and to enjoy books. I was able to read two ARCs, which were both very good and one new-to-me author this week.  Reviews for all three books are below.    Many of us in the romance book world were rocked this week when author Claire Kingsley lost her husband, David, very suddenly.  I cannot imagine her pain as she learns to live in a world where her husband, who was very involved with the romance community, loved her with an intensity that no one could ever question.  My thoughts and prayers have been with her and her children this week.  If you have not read her work, then you absolutely should.  She writes complex characters with family dynamics and small towns that feel very real to life. I have loved every one of them. Her books are available in Kindle Unlimited.  Check out her Amazon page here: https://bookloverjudylynn.blogspot.com/2021/06/book-reviews-from-wee...
